In a few days it will be 5 months since the launch of SAVI COLLECTION and we think it's time for you to know who is behind this project. My name is Lluís Sastre, born in Barcelona in 1991. The youngest of 4 brothers. In February 2020 I decided to leave my job in one of the best professional services firms in Spain to venture into a new challenge, perhaps the biggest one I have faced so far. To create a fashion brand that combines elegance and sustainability in the same concept in a market with many competitors.
The journey begins in Milan, one of the great capitals of fashion. A trip full of illusion, desire to eat the world and above all to meet with my main supplier to know first hand such an innovative and different material as APPLE SKIN.
Whoever thinks that the most complicated thing is to find the perfect material is wrong. We had the WHAT, the WHY, but we lacked the HOW. And the HOW was non-negotiable that it should be in Spain. For several reasons, but mainly because in Spain we have the BEST leather craftsmen in the world. It's as simple as that. Yes, manufacturing in an Asian country may be 10 times cheaper, but it won't have the same quality. It won't even come close, and we want to offer a beautiful, sustainable and good quality product. That's our added value as a brand.
But let's get down to business. Friday 13th March 2020. First meeting with a possible manufacturer to show him our designs and the leather we wanted to manufacture our products with. The meeting was at 16h. As you can imagine this meeting never took place because at about 14h the state of alarm was decreed in Spain. First problem, but above all uncertainty about when we could start making the first prototypes. Months went by and the situation did not improve, and consequently the idea of thinking that I had left a stable job at a time of global pandemic made me question many things. But finally in June the situation started to improve and we were able to get going again. We made the first prototypes and tested them for a few months to see if it was really the product we wanted.
Finally, on November 1st we launched our first product, the Noosa cardholder. From then on you already know us, and we want to say THANK YOU! Thanks for the reception that SAVI COLLECTION has had, thanks for your support and feedback, but above all thanks for being there and being part of something that has only just begun.
Entrepreneurship is never easy, and in times of Covid even less so. It requires a lot of time and sacrifice, but you have to be brave, because it is the only way to get what you really want. You have to fight day by day, both on a personal and professional level. The road is long and the obstacles are many. We are used to see or know success stories when they already are, but no one teaches us the hard process that lies behind. That's why we bring you this Blog, so you can get to know us better and see what is the process of creating a brand from 0. Being totally transparent, telling both the good and the not so good.
